Friday's Fave Five

Truthfully, I'm going to have to dig deep here to find five faves from the week. And that's because yesterday I received a package in the mail from my stepfather -- it contained many cards that we'd sent to my mother over the years and it contained many letters that I wrote to her in the early years after she left my dad. As I write this Fave Five, I am still processing the emotions resulting from my perusal of those letters. But.. that's another blog post.

So, for now, my Fave Five for this past week:

1. The means to pay for car repairs when they come up.

2. A clean house (I've only just got caught up from the 4 weeks of traveling that I did this Fall).

3. The anticipation of decorating for Christmas -- we pulled the decorations out of storage yesterday and will put them up this Sunday.

4. Friends who respond in times of need.

5. Hobbies that can so completely absorb me that I feel like I've had a mini-vacation.

Have a great weekend! For more Fave Fives, or to play along yourself, go to Susanne's blog at Living to Tell and use the "Mr. Linky" button at the end of her post.

That box of letters sounds like it would be very emotional but how special and important for you to have them - so I'm glad you do. I love it that people KEEP letters around to read again years down the road.

And three cheers for friends who respond in times of need!

Have a great weekend!

Praying for you to have time to process those emotions. Tough stuff.

Having a clean house is definitely a favorite. Wish I had it more often.
Glad you have responsive friends. Enjoy your weekend putting up decorations.

Praying for you as you process all the letters.

Great list.

Sounds like some of these are things to cherish, and ultimately it's good to have them and have the choice about what to do with them. But this does sound like a difficult time in your past to revisit. Hugs again!

Hobbies, home, friends, Christmas and all it means - very very good things!

I agree especially with #5, its nice to have a hobby that absorbs to the point of distracting us completely. Thats how reading is for me :)

#5 can be a relaxer and a healer hobby. Knittig and spinning are both for me.

I hope you can work through the letters in a timely manner. I'm sorry that you have to relive this pain, but I do believe that in the end, as you have said, the healing will be complete.

So many of us have mentioned friends this week. Good friends are truly a gift.

I can imagine how emotions and memories would swirl receiving that box. Praying you feel God's comfort as you read through.
