Decorating 2009

I discovered something this year about decorating the tree, and it is this: if you are the only one who is going to actually enjoy the process, you should do it on your own. Honestly, by the time we were done, I was more than a little irritated with my menfolk. If it wasn't the texting of the son, it was the whining of the husband about the decorations.

Enough!

Next year, I either borrow a few young children who will enjoy it with me or I do it myself.

Fair warning, men of the Giesbrecht household!

You can borrow me. I always enjoy it.

Having un-spirited people around for that would be kind of a bummer. Larry was like that our first year, and when i told him it kind of dampened my Christmas fun, he said, "Well, i'd like doing if we could ..." and had ideas about what kind of decorations he wanted. This might not work in all cases though.

There's my aunt's alternative, which was to put out a big buffet and invite extended family plus friends to trim the tree! One could add rail, mantlepiece, etc., trimmings to that!

When I lived in NJ, I used to have a decorating party every year. Out here that kind of party doesn't seem to be very popular, so I've given up on the idea for the time being.
